In Class: Time I was Creative
I’ve had a few creative times in my life. It seems like the moods go in spurts. Split between being creative and learning new things.
One of the times I look back on is when I was writing more. I was writing poetry and short stories. I was taking writing classes in college, so some of the work was for those, but it seemed to overflow into my own projects also. I had ideas erupting from my head at all times. I always had a notebook with me, so I could write these things down when I thought of them. The more I wrote, the more I seemed to have to write about. I thought it would never end. Just kept coming up with more ideas. Eventually other things in my life needed to be taken care of, so I had to do those. I spent a little less time writing and then the creative flow came a little slower. I didn’t write as much and worked on other things a little more. The decline kept on coming until eventually I wasn’t writing at all.
It took a long time to get out of that slump of not writing. I think it was a change in location that got me back up and running again. I moved to Chicago, and the energy of the city just brought back that burst of creativity. Miss that time.
