Daily Routine
Making diner, a grilled cheese sandwich. Open the cupboard to get a pan and place it on the stove. Turn the burner on, counter-clockwise all the way. Click, Click, Click, Click as the stoves lights the fire. Swoosh sound as the fire catches. Warmth from the flame. Turn the nob down to a low blue flame. Turn around to get the butter. Reach into the bread bag to get two pieces of bread. The bread is soft in the middle fleshy part and rigid on the edges where the crust is. Get a butter knife and use it to spread the butter onto the bread. I’ve keep some butter out so it is very easy to use. It goes on smooth. After buttering one side of each slice of bread, I reach into the refrigerator to get a couple of slices of cheese. The refrigerator is cold. The cheese is cold. Each slice is individually wrapped. While unwrapping the sound of the plastic wrap covering is heard. Place one slice butter side down on the hot skillet. Butter sizzles as it touches the heat. Then the cheese and the last slice on top of it all. Cheese starts to melt. I can smell the butter starting to brown. Flip the sandwich to the other side. The smell of the grilled butter is stronger now. Almost ready. As I reach in with the spatula I can hear the crispness of the grizzled bread crunch. Place the sandwich on a plate and ready to go.
