About
Hello!
My name is Brian Paris. I was born in Aurora, IL. I am the youngest of seven children. I have a daughter named Joy.
I came down to the University of Illinois in 1992 to study Physics. I didn’t enjoy school at the time, so I dropped out and began working. After awhile I took a class at Parkland in TV production and started volunteering at WILL-TV, the local PBS station here in town. I spent ten years there learning video and audio production. I produced two series while I was there, Video Diner and Studio X. They were music based programs.
After leaving the university, I moved to Chicago and became a freelance producer, editor, and videographer. I produced award show, edited medical dvd’s and shot documentaries. While I was in Chicago, I also took improv and sketch writing classes at Second City.
In 2008, I was offered the opportunity to help start up Northwestern University’s branch campus in Doha, Qatar. I helped set up their production facilities, set up student’s production workflows and provided classroom support for the digital cinema and journalism programs. In 2010, I came back to the US and continued to work for Northwestern at their DC branch of their Medill Journalism program.
Now I am back at the University to finish up my degree in Creative Writing. I am looking forward to this class to add to my video skills and to help get myself back into a creative habit.
